Found a keep. Grow a realm. Hold the frontier.

Frontier Kingdoms is a real-time kingdom builder in the spirit of the 1993 classic D&D Stronghold. Raise your stronghold on an untamed frontier, grow it into a realm of allied kingdoms, and defend it against rival lords, raiders and the monsters of the wilds. Your troops fight on their own, level up and learn new abilities. You decide where they march, what you build, and how your people survive the winter.

Free to play in your browser. No download or account needed.

New: the multiplayer beta

  • Up to four realms per match, each played by a friend or the AI. Free-for-all, 2 against 2, 1 against 3 and more.
  • Host straight from your browser. Everyone connects through our game server, so there is no port forwarding or router setup.
  • Public or private games. Join an open game from the list, or share a six-letter room code with your friends.
  • Drop in at any time. Join a running match and take over an AI realm. If someone loses their connection, the AI keeps their realm going until they return.
  • Play together. Team and all-player chat, shared pausing, and faster speeds only when everyone agrees.

Multiplayer is available to players who allow usage analytics. Open Privacy on the title screen, check Allow usage analytics and click Save choice and continue.

Features

Build and grow

  • Farms, houses, granaries, markets, inns, workshops, training halls, watchtowers and more, each with upgrade tiers.
  • Rise through nine titles, from Reeve to Monarch, unlocking new buildings with every promotion.
  • Found up to three allied vassal kingdoms, then lead them yourself or hand them to the AI.
  • Seasons matter. Farms bring in a fraction of their harvest in winter, so fill your stores in autumn.
  • Clear forests and rock, reclaim marshland and bridge rivers to open up new land.

Lead your armies

  • Eleven leader classes: Fighter, Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, Cleric, Mage, Rogue, Necromancer, Bard, Engineer and Barbarian, each with its own troops, buildings and strengths.
  • Real-time battles that play out on their own. Troops rise to level 20 and unlock abilities and spells along the way.
  • Arm your soldiers with weapons, bows, armour and enchanted jewelry from your workshops.
  • Battles on a grand scale, with up to 20,000 troops in a world.

Your world, your rules

  • Generated worlds in three sizes. Share a seed and your friends get the same land.
  • Three levels of hostility, from Peaceful to Relentless, with raider strongholds and monster caves full of fire elementals, stone golems, Medusas and worse.
  • Choose your Legacy. Win as a Builder through prosperity and the crown, as a Conqueror by defeating every rival, or as a Sovereign by doing both.
  • Add up to three rival AI realms in single player, on Easy, Normal or Hard.
  • A guided tutorial, a full in-game field guide, and saves kept in your browser.

Getting started
